Missed a Stimulus Payment? States Sending Unclaimed Funds This July

While many Americans think stimulus checks are a thing of the past, billions in unclaimed state payments are still on the table this July 2025.

If you live in Alaska, New York, California, or other participating states, you could be entitled to a payment you haven’t claimed yet.

Here’s how to check and ensure you receive what’s yours.

Alaska: Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

What it is: Alaska’s Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) is often overlooked by eligible residents who move, change banks, or simply forget to check. Funded by state oil revenues, it pays those who have lived in Alaska for at least one year.

Amount: $1,702 per eligible resident in 2025.

Payment timing: Typically sent between September and October, but early payments may arrive as soon as mid-July for some.

How to check: Many residents are owed payments but haven’t confirmed them. Visit myPFD.alaska.gov to check your status and claim your payment.

New York: STAR Credit Payments

What it is: New York’s School Tax Relief (STAR) Credit offers property tax rebates many homeowners forget about or never realize they are eligible for.

Amount: Between $350 and $1,500, depending on your location, with nearly 3 million homeowners qualifying.

Payment timing: Payments align with local school tax schedules, with many disbursed between June and mid-July.

How to check: Many checks go unclaimed each year. Use the STAR Credit Delivery Tool to see if your payment is pending.

California: Climate Stimulus Rebates

What it is: California is issuing climate and inflation relief payments that often go unclaimed by eligible residents who don’t realize they qualify.

Amount: Up to $725 per person.

Payment timing: Payments will begin rolling out this summer and continue into fall 2025.

How to check: Visit California’s Franchise Tax Board website to check your eligibility and ensure you don’t miss your payment.

Other States Sending Unclaimed Payments

States like Georgia, Florida, and Massachusetts are also issuing inflation relief and tax rebate checks in 2025.

These payments often go unclaimed due to address changes, missed notices, or residents being unaware of eligibility.

Check your state’s tax or benefits site for updates.

How to Claim Your Unclaimed Payment

Alaska PFD: Log in to myPFD.alaska.gov to confirm if you’re owed a payment. Look for “Eligible Not Paid.”

New York STAR Credit: Use the NY STAR Delivery Tool and consider signing up for direct deposit.

California and Others: Check your state’s official rebate or tax refund page (for California, use the Franchise Tax Board).
